Health and Medical Disclaimer

Draft. A licensed attorney reviews this before MILO opens to the public.
In short
- MILO and your coach don't give medical advice. Check with a doctor before you start, especially if any of the warning signs below apply to you.
- You confirm you know of no reason you shouldn't train, or a doctor has said you can.
- Logging pain tells your coach, but nobody watches it live. In an emergency, call 911.
Not medical advice
MILO is a training app, not a healthcare provider. Nothing in MILO, from MILO or from your coach through MILO is medical advice, a diagnosis or treatment. Coaches are not doctors or physical therapists, unless they tell you otherwise, and even then MILO is not providing care. Numbers MILO works out, such as estimated maxes and percentage loads, are estimates.
Check with a doctor first if
- you have, or have had, a heart condition, chest pain, fainting or dizziness during exercise, or high blood pressure;
- a family member died suddenly of a heart problem before age 50;
- you have diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, or any other condition that affects exercise;
- you have a recent injury, concussion, surgery or illness, or a bone, joint or back problem that exercise could make worse;
- you are pregnant or have recently given birth;
- you take medicine that affects your heart rate, blood pressure or balance;
- a doctor has ever told you to limit exercise.
What I confirm
- I know of no medical reason I shouldn't train, or a doctor has cleared me to train.
- I will tell my coach about injuries or conditions that affect my training, and when they change. (MILO doesn't ask for your medical history. Share only what your coach needs to program safely.)
- I will get medical advice if I'm unsure whether I should train.
Stop and get help if
Stop training straight away and get medical help if you have chest pain or pressure, severe shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, a racing or irregular heartbeat, sudden severe pain, numbness or weakness, a head injury, or very dark urine with severe muscle pain or swelling after hard training.
Pain flags and notes
Logging pain or writing a note in MILO tells your coach the next time they check. Nobody watches MILO in real time, and it is not an emergency or medical service. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Athletes under 18
If the athlete is under 18, I am their parent or legal guardian and I confirm the above for them.
